O’s Notes: Tenor saxophonist Nicole Glover combines warm tone with lots of poise on Plays, a set of eight straight-ahead tunes, mostly fresh covers. She leads a cordless trio with Tyrone Allen (b), and Kayvon Gordon (d). Steve Nelson adds vibes on half of the selections. They’ve got a heavy swing going on for “One Second, Please “, chilling on “Blues For Mel”, with lots of counter current on “Inception”. Allen makes a notable contribution, especially on “Munsoon”.
