Jazz Ruler Type: Bebop
O’s Notes: Frank plays clarinet and leads a quartet with Steve Allee on piano, Jack Helsley on bass and Bryson Kern playing drums. They are a well-knit quartet performing six of Glover’s neobop compositions. The music is alive and moving as Frank is very expressive stating the melodies. The first two tracks are upbeat followed by the more dramatic “The Last Blue Tang”. Next is “Concierto Para Quarteto”, a 3-part song that includes a string orchestra to embellish the moods. The pace is full throttle on “Plastic Plants” before they wrap up the set with the mysterious vibe of “A Thousand Ships” capping a fresh jazzy set.
