O’s Notes: Jemal Ramirez is a drummer and bandleader with a strong sense of history and culture. He has Italian, Mexican, Native American and French in his known DNA. Musically, he grew up listening to jazz, soul and popular music. Jemal has a cool swagger keeping time that gives the band a positive vibe. Speaking of vibes, Warren Wolf does a fine job on “Back In The Swing of Things” along with the rest of the talented musicians including Howard Wiley on sax and pianist Matthew Clark. There are many bright spots on Pomponio. Our favorites are “But Beautiful ‘, “J’ouvert” and the title track.
