O’s Notes: Trumpeter Carol Morgan is back with a swinging set that lives up to its“Post Cool“title. The band has a gentle swing supporting the cool bop groove. Carol’s personality comes through in her solos and the style is contagious. All of the solos are much more than rapid-fire notes. That means lots of passion with help from saxophonist Joel Frahm, bassist Martin Wind, and Matt Wilson on drums. They play really cool takes of Dizzy’s “A Night In Tunisia” and “Autumn Leaves” along with an original each from Morgan and Frahm rounding out a very good set.
