O’s Notes: Miguel del León sings some of the best Brazilian classics on Postcards From Rio. The music is as beautiful as the landscape. While his range is narrow, Miguel sings from his heart and you can feel his passion. We actually thought he was a Carioca but de León is Mexican American! He surrounds himself with excellent musicians who make this bossa nova bash genuine. We especially enjoyed producer Leo Gandelman’s sax work on “Corcovado” and then on flute for “Garota de Ipanema”. Daniel Santiago (guitar) and arranger/pianist David Feldman also shine. DeLeón captures the true spirit of Brazil.
