O’s Notes: George (p) founded his concert jazz band in 1972 with Franco Ambrosetti (t), Flavio Ambrosetti (sax), Daniel Humair (d) and their manager Gerald Lull. They have endured for over 36 years! Members have been added and dropped but the core elements for success have remained in tact centered on the strong arrangements of Gruntz. “Struttin’ With Some Barbeque” is one of the best featuring solid work by bassist Arie Volinez, Marvin Stamm (t), Sal Giorgianni (sax) and Rene Mosele (tb). They swing on “Big Nick” and even give us a taste of free jazz on “In The Tradition Of Switzerland”. This is yet another electrifying performance.
