O’s Notes: Carla Marciano is a heralded Italian, female, alto saxophonist who appears with her quartet on Psychosis, an homage to the late Bernard Herrmann. He was a masterful composer of countless movie scores. Alessandro LaCorte (keyboards), Aldo Vigorito (b) and Gaetano Fasano (d) join Marciano on her fifth CD, her debut on Challenge Records. They open with a celestial free improvisation on “Theme From Taxi Driver” paving the way for an exciting session. Carla combines rich melodies with hard bop on “From Marnie to Twisted Nerve”. Our favorite is “Theme From Marnie”.
