O’s Notes: Piazzolla is a masterful composer and architect on the bandoneon. The band is a quintet with Dante Amicarelli (p), Antonio Agri (v), Kicho Diaz (b) and Oscar López Ruíz (g). There are seven compositions on this set, each having an individual theme. There is a wealth of emotion and splendor in the music that is both intriguing and relaxing. The music was recorded in 1970 and is just now being released in the US. We are thankful to share in the splendor of this Argentine music.
