O’s Notes: Trumpeter Eddie Allen has been around for a while playing jazz with a decided New York character. That flavor is one that can get you moving! Keith Loftis (tenor sax) joins him on the front line trading melodies and making sweet harmonies as well. Mark Soskin (p), Kenny Davis (b) and E.J. Strickland (d) make up a solid rhythm section. Allen wrote and arranged all of the music except “Who Can I Turn To?” a warm ballad. Among the best of the rest are “Nakia”, “With Open Arms” and “Whispers In The Dark”.
