O’s Notes: This is a truly soulful CD from Gerald Albright, one of the contemporary jazz sax masters. He’s been doing his thing for 23 years and still has the touch, energy and balance to get us excited. He opens with a tribute to James Brown featuring Fred Wesley (tb) and yes, it’s funky! There is also a cool collaboration with Earl Klugh (g), a cover of “Close To You” and “The Road To Peace” with George Duke (p). There are eight originals and two covers. Best of all Gerald still breathes heart-stopping warmth into new classics like our favorite, “From The Soul”.
