O’s Notes: Rob is a Chicago-based trumpeter with a steady gig at Catch 35, one of the city’s better seafood restaurants. This recording includes bassist and composer Eric Hochberg, original pianist, Laurence Hobgood, current pianist Steve Million (p), Bob Rummage (d) and guest Mark Colby (sax). The program includes nine songs, a good mix of standards and originals: two from Hochberg and one each from Million and Hobgood. Parton’s tone is exceptionally warm on “Miss Black”. We would have a difficult time not listening seriously if these guys were playing while we were dining! We’ll make a point to check them out live and encourage you to do the same!
