O’s Notes: Flautist Lori Bell leads a quartet with pianist Josh Nelson, Dan Schnelle on drums and bassist David Robaire. The are commemorating Recorda Me – Remembering Joe Henderson, the late saxophone and composer. Lori’s flute is a sweet substitute for Henderson’s sax, and she has compelling arrangements. There’s nice bass work on “Out Of The Night”, fleeting piano on “Black Narcissus” & “Inner Urge”, with Bell breathing freshness throughout the session! Great music with strong, fresh reconstructions makes this a winner.
