O’s Notes: Charlotte based smooth jazz vocalist/guitarist Greg Cagle takes the lead on this collection of a dozen originals. He wrote the music in 2001 and ten years later it is fresh for a new release. The groove will appeal to pop based jazz fans that appreciate cool vocals. Greg gets helps from longtime partner Rick Nash (t) on “She Musta Laid A Spell On Me” and a few other tracks. Cagle adds a funky bass line to the opening of “Plenty Enough” and plays keyboards on several other songs. “Introduce the Band” is highlighted by solos from David Rhyne (b, d) and James Brown (sax) who both appear throughout the session. They wrap of with “Doo Woo & Soda Pop”, a dubbed A Capella tune featuring Cagle that is true to the title and makes for a strong finish.
