O’s Notes: You’ve heard these Cole Porter classics many times and they are timeless. Michael Abene’s arrangements are unique and fresh. They include very jazzy instrumental portions to complement the vocals of Claassen. Olaf Polziehn (p), Ingmar Heller (b) and Hams Dekker (d) are the tight trio behind the voice and they do a fine job. The real highlight here is Fay’s interpretation of the classics. She’s not hiding behind the band and she takes risks with her voicing that is rewarded. Claassen not only freshens Porters work but her translations are as “Easy To Love” as the originals! Among the best are “Anything Goes” in 7/4 and “Dreamdancing”.
