O’s Notes: Her voice is deep, rich and warm. It is inviting and full of passion. She soars on the opener “Ingele” displaying a wide range. The rhythms change from pop on “My Mother’s Daughter” to soul on the title track to calypso on “Day By Day”. We especially like the percussive beats and vocal harmonies on “African Lady”. Fans of India Arie will love this one. She pushes her voice to extremes and always maintains control. These ten new songs accompany a fresh voice on the contemporary jazz vocal scene.
