O’s Notes: Ulas Hazar was born in Turkey but has resided in Germany for most of his adult life where he become a virtuoso on both sax and guitar! Inspired and encouraged by John McLaughlin in 2015, Hazar made the switch to guitar in 2018 and is a natural talent. Reincarnated features Hazar playing Spanish guitar at its best with fleeting fretwork and passion. He teams up with guest artist Al Di Meola (g) on “Spain” for a blistering exchange. The pace is tempered by the softer notes from pianist Mike Roelos on “Black Orpheus”. Percussionist Mehmet Katay and bass clarinetist Pitor Torunski add strong support. We also enjoyed their rendition of “Summertime”. There is also high-quality DVD included!
