O’s Notes: Brazilian lyrics and Latin beats define the sound of Renascence. The beats are festive with rhythms that remind us of South African jazz particularly on “Aqua Do Bengo” and “Dongo”. Waldemar has a rich voice he sings 12 original compositions. He also plays guitar and is supported by a strong band including brass and strings by Ilyas Tetik Septet. Our favorite track is the lively “Sobores Do Terro” which caps a good session.
