O’s Notes: Rendering“is a project celebrating 25 years since Kellye Gray’s“recording debut. The old songs were re-recoded live (one take) in front of a studio audience. She opens with a heartfelt, live rendition of “Don’t Explain” featuring Andre Hayward on trombone. Warren Sneed (sax) does a fine job shadowing Gray on several selections notably “Morning”. “How Insensitive” is a fine example of Kellye putting her all into the music. That original recording was“Standards In Gray from 1989. It is included as part of this package for comparison. “All Blues”, “The Island” and a riveting“version of “Since I Fell For You” on the ’89 disc are replaced by a couple of originals on the 2017 edition. Kellye was exceptional then and proves to mellow with time!
