O’s Notes: If you want good mellow straight ahead jazz, this is it. Sean extracts buttery smooth tones from his trumpet playing originals, traditional pieces and classic ballads. This is the perfect accompaniment for a romantic dinner. They cook a bit on “Offering Time” but it is a more of a mood maker from the soothing sounds of “El Soul” to the solitude of “I Need Thee”. Tia Fuller adds sax and Orrin Evans has a notable performance on piano as well.
