O’s Notes: Canadian guitarist and oud player Gordon Grdina brings us a true, ancient Middle-Eastern music experience on Safar-e-Daroon. He performs with his Marrow quintet including Josh Zubot (violin), Hank Roberts (cello), Mark Helias (b) and Hamlin Honari (perc). The nine compositions are all original, 3 by Helias and 6 by Grdina. This is a unique set with music that can be appreciated more on successive listening sessions featuring a wealth of instruments in their natural state.
