O’s Notes: The band is a mix of musicians from around the world: Michel Benita (b), Philippe Pipon Garcia (d), Manu Codjia (g), Mounir Troudi (vocals), Nya (vocals) and leader Truffaz on trumpet. They span the gamut on the acid jazz front with a really cool reggae beat underscoring “Big Wheel” and “Clubophone” contrasted with the mellow smoky trumpet on “Whispering” and the eastern funk combinations on “Yabous” including a rap track from Nya. There is also the rock-based “Tantrik” adding to the varied approach. We preferred the first half of this electronic induced acid collective but there are bright spots throughout.
