O’s Notes: Violinist Jason Anick and pianist Jason Yeager composed, produced and arranged the music on Sanctuary. They lead an octet with Jason Palmer (t), Billy Buss (t), Edmar Colón (t-sax), Nadeem Alatrash (cello), Greg Loughman (b) and Mike Connors (d). We enjoyed the racy spirit of AI Apocalypse”, and the solitude of the title track. The blend of violin and trumpet is excellent on songs like “Nearness of Now”, and the spirited adventure or “Persecution”. We listened to this album twice through and were never fatigued, we enjoyed the entire performance.
