O’s Notes: Al brings us a combination of romance, and smooth R&B over gentle urban beats. He employs a wealth of talented musicians to make this a formidable effort. We liked the groove of “East Coast Steppin'” with mellow licks from guitarist Robert “WaWa” LaGrand. The title track was written produced and arranged by Chuck Loeb who plays all instruments on the tune except sax. “Just Chillin'” features Gerald Albright on bass and “Thinking of You” has deep baritone vocals from Will Downing. Tracy Hamlin breathes soul on top of a hip-hop groove on “You’re The One”. Sherrod is there on every track with cool sax notably on “We Fall Down” and the cover of “That’s The Way of The World”. This is a fine set and a very good contemporary jazz album.
