O’s Notes: D.D. continues to impress us on piano with dazzling arrays of brilliance. Jackson wrote, arranged and produced all of the music on this session and dedicates it to his wife Elizabeth. But it contains is his normal adventurous jaunts into free space. The tones are frequently darker courtesy of Christian Howe (stings), cellist Dana Leong and Sam Newsome (sax). Ugonna Okegwo (b) and Dafnis Prieto (d) anchor the rhythm section. Our favorite is “Sam He Is”.
