O’s Notes: Hungarian vocalist Veronia Harcsa teams up with guitarist Balint Gyémán for a set of eight inspirational songs. They expand their duo by two with Belgians Nicolas Thys on bass and drummer Antoine Pierre. Shapeshifter is a combination of light romance, pop, progressive rock and funk. “Last Night”, “San Francisco”, “Serge With Holy Scar” and the title track are winners. The songs are all draped in the splendor of Harcsa’s delicate vocals. The groove is not so light as to lose complexity. For sure this is jazzy and intriguing, a fresh take warranting strong consideration.
