O’s Notes: Simple Life opens with a funky fusion song “Famous Last Words”. This sets the stage for a high-energy session featuring guitarist B. D. Lenz. There are threads of rock and pop with an occasional funky twist. “Mother Mary” has a country feel while “We All Fall Down” has a racy Southwestern groove. B. D. stretches out with sax player Geoff Mattoon on the groovin’ syncopated “Mumbo Jumbo”. It all comes together nicely over ten new songs.
