O’s Notes: Bobby Troup was a swinging pianist and jazz vocalist on the left coast during the 1950’s and 1960’s. He was noted for compositions like “Route 66” and “Girl Talk”. Fast forward to today… West Coast Jazz scene… A similar character, Mark Winkler discovered the genius of Troup – enough to dedicate an entire CD to his work. He’s joined by Anthony Wilson (g), Kevin Art (sax) and Joe Bagg (B3), all of whom interlace their own cool groove into the mix. It’s swinging, laid back, retro but still cool music.
