O’s Notes: This is a newly recorded recreation of Sketches of Spain. The work was first done with splendor by the legendary Miles Davis and Gil Evans. Lew Soloff (t) stretches out in front of the Harmonies Ensemble of New York conducted by Steve Richman. The release comes on the 50th anniversary of the original. While not a match for the original, this is a formidable effort done with good taste.
