O’s Notes: Canadian drummer Larnell Lewis gives us a Slice of Life with music based on his personal, family experiences. Joy Lapps plays steel pans on the first two selections with Rob Christian adding tenor sax on the funky “Hide and Seek”. We liked the subtlety of “Hiding Place”, and the vibrancy of “To Forgive” featuring Christian on flute, pianist Jeremy Ledbetter, and guitarist Elmer Ferrer. Wade O. Brown sings on “All the Stars”, and Joanna Majoko sings “Little Butterfly” to balance this 6-song 32 minute set.
