O’s Notes: Steve “Poppa” Mutimer combines electronics with Kenny Craddock on the Hammond B3, Chris Phillips (acoustic g) and DG Mattingly (electric g). There’s some funky guitar work on Smokin’ that is sure to get you moving. Mutimer hits pop, blues, and mostly funky jazz. The beats are tight as he incorporates all he learned as a drummer earlier in his life. This is the seventh album he’s made since leaving the advertising business. The concept is simple, the results are fun.
