O’s Notes: Joey DeFrancesco is a long-standing master of the Hammond B3, one of the most enthusiastic and entertaining organ players on today’s jazz scene. His trio includes drummer Byron Landham and guitarist Paul Bollenback. They are a tight knit band that strikes a groove that sticks. Paul and Joey switch off on the melodies throughout the set both playing with grace and feeling on tunes like “Ode To Angela”. The program is a combination of ballads and burners with Bollenback and DeFrancesco each contributing an original compositing. This was a special night with Papa John and mom both in the audience at The Cultural Center in Scottsdale, AZ. Joey made them proud and delighted the rest of the audience as well!
