O’s Notes: Songs For Stuffed Animals is the debut album for saxophonist Richard Guba, a veteran musician who’s been playing for decades. He leads an octet with Joel McCord (t), Jim Tavener (tb), Rodney Laster (a-sax fl), Nicholas Carico (g), Ken Zimmerman (keyboards), David Mueller (b), and James Burcky (d). The music is meant to mirror the songs that a stuffed animal would hear while accompanying their loving owners (children) throughout the day. There are four originals along with five covers notably “Morning Dance” and “Black Narcissist”. Also notable is “To Wisdom The Prize”.
