O’s Notes: It’s been almost 30 years since Pieces Of A Dream broke onto the scene under the guidance of Grover Washington Jr. Drummer Curtis Harman and keyboard wizard James K. Lloyd are the core members who continue to delight contemporary jazz fans with bubbly instrumentals. Songs like “Soul Intent” have a groove that is almost intoxicating. You will be compelled to shake a leg! Our favorite is “Things Are Looking Up” with the pumping bass line of David Dyson and accents from Eddie Backus, Jr. (sax). But there are many to enjoy on Soul Intent, one of their best in several years.
