O’s Notes: You are probably most familiar with Joe’s work as a contemporary jazz pianist. He has produced many hit records with the Crusaders and as a leader. He is also quite a jazz piano player, especially stride or ragtime. Soul Shadows is a solo piano effort featuring a nice collection of tunes including “I Got Rhythm”, “Spellbound”, “Embraceable You” and “The Entertainer”. Sample is enjoying himself playing the keys and it results in a pleasurable listening experience.
