O’s Notes: Nelson is a very good vibraphonist! And he surrounds himself with first class musicians Mulgrew Miller (p), Lewis Nash (d) and Peter Washington (b). All of that talent is well utilized on Sound Effect. Song selection is an excellent blend of rejuvenated classics and a few Nelson originals. They open with “One Thin Dime”. The vibe feels good, flows well and the jovial mood is established. “Desafinado” and “Up Jumped Spring” are a couple of the favorites but this set is very good!
