O’s Notes: Veteran B3 master Dr. Lonnie Smith returns leading a trio with Jonathan Kreisberg (g) and Jamire Williams (d). The program has eight classic jazzy blues numbers including one original. Smith does a fine job working the lower register in addition to making the classic organ sing. They open with “Mellow Mood” immediately capturing our attention. These aren’t all burners however as they also simmer nicely on “Frame For the Blues” and “Spiral” featuring nice work from Kreisberg. Overall it is a very satisfying collection especially for lovers of the B3.
