O’s Notes: Sean is a jazz vocalist and guitarist. He gets support from a great team including David “Fathead” Newman (sax), Kenny Davis (b) and David Leonhardt (p). Sullivan’s style is a blend between a Latin ‘Michael Franks’ and a more improvisational straight-ahead. We hear the former on the title track and “Summer Rain”, two of four original tracks. There are a couple of cool bossa nova tunes notably “Insensatez” and a swinging Latin vibe on “Adlib”. We also liked “Work Song” and “You Don’t Know What Love Is”. We enjoyed the variety and overall sense of swing typified by songs like “American Jones”.
