O’s Notes: Jazz pianist and composer, Tigran Hamasyan leads a star-studded band playing Modern Jazz on StandArt. They cook on the heavily syncopated “Big Foot” featuring Joshua Redman (t-sax) and get mellow on “All The Things You Are” featuring Mark Turner (t-sax). Tigran’s fresh arrangements breathe new life into “I Didn’t Know What Time It Was”and a mellow take on “I Should Care”, wrapping up with the bouncy “Laura”. It’s a fine statement by Hamasyan dedicated to many of his jazz forebears.
