O’s Notes: Norman Brown is one of the hottest guitarists on the smooth jazz circuit. He mixes buttery rich, jazzy guitar tones with vocals, urban rhythms and catchy beats to come up with winning combinations over and over again. This is no exception. Among the support on Stay With Me is established percussionist Darryl Munyungo Jackson and Herman Jackson on keyboards. They get funky on “It Ain’t Over BWB” with pumping bass from Alex Al and brass from Rick Braun (t) and Kirk Whalum (sax). Brown romances us with “So In Love” before teaming up with Brian McKnight on the title track, a sure Top 10 R&B hit. Our favorite was the mellow “Every Little Thing”.
