O’s Notes: Stepping Up is a recipe for success that includes great music at varied tempos including ballads, blues and burners. Eric plays tenor and baritone sax, Moog bass and a Fender Rhodes. Joey DeFrancesco (B3, p) and drummer Gerry Gibbs join him. They execute and are honest with the music at the same time extracting passion from the soul. They are cooking, flat out burning and whispering love notes. What makes this CD great are solos that are more then just rapid-fire notes. They are soulful, spirited, rapid-fire notes!
