O’s Notes: This is a different sound. Pedro plays violin leading melodies on top of funky Latin back drops. We got hooked on the opener, “Cuerdas Locas” an upbeat tune with an engaging hook. From there he takes us in many directions but always with a strong sense of rhythm. “Oil For Fools” draws some mid-east influence while “Little Havana” sticks to the Afro-Cuban beats. We also liked his cover of “My Funny Valentine” and “La Comparsa”. Alfonso wrote most of the tracks and he employs a strong set of musicians to help deliver his message. Among them are Paquito D’Rivera (sax) and Al Di Meola (g). Pedro also plays keyboards, percussion, provides background vocals and does all arrangements and programming. The man has a lot of talent and promising potential.
