O’s Notes: Italian cellist Francesco Guerri marries the worlds of classical and contemporary music with a fine solo effort, Su Mimmi Non Si Spara. The improvisation takes us into jazz space, as Guerri leaves nothing to the imagination while stretching out on his cello. He uses percussive slaps, elaborate bowing techniques, and a tasteful dose of electronics for this adventurous endeavor. We found it to be intriguing and enjoyed tunes like “Paper”, “Your Beginning” and the title track.
