O’s Notes: Mike Clark has been a prominent drummer on the fusion scene, most notably on Hancock’s ‘Headhunters’ album. For this set he gets into more straight-ahead jazz, playing Shorter’s “Fee Fi Fo Fum”, and “Prince of Darkness”, Ellington’s “Angelica” along with a neat arrangement of “Summertime” featuring Jack Walrath (t) and Chris Potter (ts). But there’s still a some funky fusion like “U.T.” and “Dolores”. There’s a lot of juice here.
