O’s Notes: This was Roy’s breakout song from the 1970s. “Everybody Loves The Sunshine” is a timeless classic that defines Roy’s signature. There are funky danceable beats with Ayers complimenting the melodies with improvisation that is as intriguing as that of any straight ahead jazz player. That’s no surprise given his roots. Roy characterized the music on this release as neo-soul. Regardless of the characterization, it was and still is addictive for wide audiences. “Remember to Remember” is a historical lesson capturing messages from many on top of cool beats. “Everybody” and “Pump” are more of the cool hits with Ayers success signature: deep tight bass line + simple vocal track + cool rhythms from guitar/keyboards along with his magic on the vibes. It worked then and still does!
