O’s Notes: The Legendary Ingramettes have been singing gospel for six decades founded by the late Maggie Ingram and continued by her daughter Almeta Ingram-Miller. Take A Look In The Book is Almeta’s debut as the leader of the quintet. Gospel music has been a core source for R&B, blues, and jazz singers and no better than the legendary Ingramettes to illustrate that for us. They sing gospel with great harmonizing and inspirational messages. Amongst the best are “Grandma‘s hands”, “Beulah Land – I Wanna Go There” and “Hold to God’s Unchanging Hand”. There is more than religion in these tunes; there’s history, tradition and a lot of love.
