O’s Notes: Trumpeter Bob Merrill pays homage to an under appreciated pianist, songwriter and entertainer, Joe Buskin. Eric Comstock (p), Nicki Parrott (vocals), Howard Alden (g), Laurence Hobgood (p), Harry Allen (sax) and Wycliffe Gordon (tb) are just a few of the notable musicians who recreate the magic of Buskin. Kathryn Crosby (wife of the late Bing) also joins the team adding vocals. The narrative on “Frank Remembers Joe” and “Red Buttons Remembers Joe” is as entertaining as the music! The result is a fine collection of classics, for a wide range of audiences.
