O’s Notes: Adam Rongo is a new young jazz saxophonist making a splash in New York and impressing a lot of people. He invites a strong team of musicians to Tell Your Story. They open with the brassy “Turning the Corner” featuring producer Michael Dease on trombone followed by a swinging arrangement of “You Don’t Know What Love Is”. Rodney Whitaker (b) Emmet Cohen (p) and Ulysses Owens, Jr. (d) are the rhythm section keeping it all together. Etienne Charles plays trumpet for two selections and Behn Gilece plays vibes on three tracks. They both appear on “Temporary Paralysis”, one of three originals by Rongo. Adam has a lot of poise and extracts the best out of his band. He is definitely a player to watch!
