O’s Notes: Not many musicians command the power and finesse of the tuba like Howard Johnson. He anchors the lower registers as well as blowing warm melodies into familiar tunes like “Working Hard For The Joneses” also featuring vocalist Nedra Johnson. At 76 years old, Johnson’s career spans many decades and he’s still going strong, setting a standard for jazz tuba that few can approach! We also enjoyed “Natural Woman”, “Evolution” and “Fly With The Wind”.
