O’s Notes: Jason (p) joins forces with bassist Tarus Mateen and Drummer Nasheet Waits. This working trio has been playing together for several years as evidenced by the seamless collaboration on improvised passages. They play across a broad spectrum from the free jazz of “Another One” to the relaxed, classical feel of “Intermezzo, Op.118, No. 2” and “Gentle Shifts South”. There is also some creative new contemporary jazz like “Ringing My Phone” and the jazzed arrangement of the 80’s club song, “Planet Rock”. Moran and company display their talents as well as a capability to appeal to a wide range of audiences.
