O’s Notes: Pianist Hill has been around the jazz circles for an appreciable amount of time having played with many of the jazz legends like Charlie Parker and Illinois Jacquet. This setting is a large brassy ensemble with a cool rhythm section including Nasheet Waits (d) and Scott Cooley (b). The band plays what Hill has imagined in his compositions, his spontaneous vibe. We found the central track, “Hermano Frere” with vocals from Lenora Zenzali Helm to be among the best songs.
